Android is two things as far as I am concerned:
- It is a software development kit for developing mobile and embedded applications
- Android applications run on the Android platform
I helped to develop an Android application called Presentation Skills Pronto with Terry Neason at TLC Powertalk. The app consists of media players that allows users to own a handy guide of professional techniques, tips, relaxation and music. It is available on the Android Market today.
The original idea was conceived by Terry and myself. Terry wanted to give her business professional clients a handy guide, a mobile experience, of how to prepare, structure and plan presentations. As Terry is already an award-winning performer, she designed the concept of the app to be high quality audio application, where a client or any user in the world, beginner or seasoned, could have at his or her disposal a useful trusted and respected reference. As a bonus, Terry, threw in a relaxation track, which I think is really useful, if you are about to go out on stage and perform live. It all comes from somebody who really has been there and done it.
Terry wrote and produced the audio material, created the graphics and became the digital creative lead in the project. I developed the Android software in Java, programmed and created the view layouts. Our emphasis through the entire project was ensure a high quality experience for listener, bug-free code and cool operation.
Android has arrived. Presentation Skills Pronto has arrived on Android phones. We think that we are opening doors and improving effective communication for professionals. Today, indeed, is a great day.
