In this episode E3, I talk about my ideal team organisation structure. My name is Peter Pilgrim and I am your JAVA TECH COACH. Currently, at the time of blogging, I am AVAILABLE 4 HIRE
I have a lot of experience working in agile teams. I found really excellent people in great culture, which gell together for a little awhile, and then I have been fortunate (or unfortunate) to part of people with toxicity. Let me dwell on the positivity, during the interview process, you might get a whiff of the business culture inside the organisation. Sadly you only know with certainty, once you are inside the door. There are some business that allow intern, interim and temporary staff and from there, one can decide if the organisation is fit for purpose for yourself.
I prefer to work in a team size of 7 to 10 people. I experienced very large teams up to 50 people in a designer agency, which lasted for just two weeks, before it was split. Working in teams, requires trust, communication, equity, validity, humane values and pyschological safety. If either of these items are missing then that team will lose, usually there will be serious issue that will cause division.
Good luck.
- Trust – the ability to rely on another person for resilience, comprehension, empathy, honesty and discurse
- Communication – the facility for people in teams to share knowledge and transfer wisdom: visually, aurally and through kinesthethics
- Values – the idea that team shares commons beliefs, futuristics goals; desire and drive to achieve the best outcome (without causing offence, manipulation, explotation or coercion of others in the team or outside the team in the year 2025)
- Pyschological safety – the feeling, the culture and collective mindset that team members are able to express their freewill and ideas inside the project without blame culture, risk of aggression, bullying and unfair treatment (leadership must lead by example to protect each team member)
Hope that helps – reach out to me – if you require professional consultation
