You probably already follow my twitter feed <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/peter_pilgrim\">@peter_pilgrim<\/a>. I had a fabulous book signing event on Friday. All I want to do express my thanks to the Java Community Process for supporting me and to my publisher Packt Pub for helping up expediently. Incidentally, the <a href=\"https:\/\/nighthacking.com\/event\/java-community-process-15th-anniversary-party\/\" title=\"JCP 15th Anniversary party\">JCP is celebrating its fifteenth anniversary<\/a> this month. It feels like age has passed by already, when I was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.devoxx.co.uk\" title=\"Devoxx UK 2014\">Devoxx UK 2014<\/a> in north London.<\/p>\n<p>Before the book signing began<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/8268882@N06\/14412925095\/in\/photostream\/player\/\" width=\"333\" height=\"500\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen oallowfullscreen msallowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>One of the first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.packtpub.com\/java-ee-7-developer-handbook\/book\" title=\"Java EE 7 Developer Handbook\">JavaEE 7 Developer Handbook<\/a> persons<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/8268882@N06\/14226490847\/player\/\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen oallowfullscreen msallowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/8268882@N06\/14226322158\/in\/photostream\/player\/\" width=\"333\" height=\"500\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen oallowfullscreen msallowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It was tremendous to be at this event, which I know consider my home conference, Devoxx UK. My parents came just to the conference just before the book signing and I saw that they were lurking about the Oracle booth. They would be exactly where this photograph was taken or just behind. It was the very first time they had seen their son at a Java conference event. I hope I made them really proud of the struggle, and I will always keep fighting the power, believe that.<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/8268882@N06\/14411640132\/player\/\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen oallowfullscreen msallowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>There were a lot of Java Champions in attendance. <strong>Antonio Gonclaves <\/strong>, the Paris France JUG Leader and Java Champion, is holding a copy of my book, how dare he? Antonio (R) is a long time book author with Java EE and his publisher is Apress.<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/8268882@N06\/14412927175\/player\/\" width=\"333\" height=\"500\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen oallowfullscreen msallowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This splendid photo reveals the size of the exhibition hall and the length of the queue.<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/8268882@N06\/14226348300\/player\/\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen oallowfullscreen msallowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>By this time, it is all coming back to me emotionally. There is great joy and satisfaction being Java User Group leader and talking to developers about their passion, their technology and their desires; after all, leader ought to inspire, because it is all about the hope for the future. I felt great to be in a position to offer some advice, a good word or simply say, &#8220;Nice job. Keep on moving on. This was <strong>Christiane Kurz<\/strong> talking it up<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/8268882@N06\/14482288085\" title=\"IMG_1759 by Peter Pilgrim, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm4.staticflickr.com\/3855\/14482288085_0082c1a816.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" alt=\"IMG_1759\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Finally, here is <strong>Stephan Janssen<\/strong> (L) and <strong>Andres Almiray<\/strong> (R) to bring the whole experience to a close<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/8268882@N06\/14226285009\/player\/\" width=\"333\" height=\"500\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen oallowfullscreen msallowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Devoxx UK is due to return next year 2015 for three days instead of two from the 17th &#8211; 20th June. The attendance went up from 500 in 2013 to 700 people<br \/>\nthis year. The number of exhibitors, who set up this year, almost doubled in size since last year. It looks like Devoxx UK is now embedded as the Summer Java conference to attendance.
