Java Champions get the opportunity to provide feedback, ideas, and direction that will help Oracle grow the Java Platform. He wrote games galore and taught himself how to program computers. Peter graduated from <a id=\"f4uz\" title=\"South Bank University\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lsbu.ac.uk\/\">London South Bank University<\/a> then went into IT industry. He started in Germany, then returned to the UK, and eventually broke into Investment Banking IT. During this early, long and successful career path he achieved a background with C\/C++, Fortran 77 and Pascal programming languages.<br id=\"dvqg\" \/><br id=\"dvqg0\" \/> Peter was the founder and organiser of the Java Web Users Group (<strong><span style=\"color: #990000;\">JAVAWUG<\/span><\/strong>). In 2007, he was nominated by his fellow peers on the <strong><em><a id=\"nqfd\" title=\"Sun\/Oracle Java Champions\" href=\"https:\/\/java.net\/projects\/java-champions\">Sun\/Oracle Java Champions<\/a><\/em><\/strong> program. Peter is a Sun Certified Java Architect for the Java EE 5 platform. He has been writing Java programs since 1997. As well as core and enterprise Java, Peter gained valuable experience in alternative JVM languages such as <strong>JavaFX<\/strong>, <strong>Groovy <\/strong>and <strong>Scala<\/strong>. He delivered presentations on JavaFX and Scala <a id=\"wuap\" title=\"JavaOne\" href=\"https:\/\/www.oracle.com\/us\/javaonedevelop\/index.html\">JavaOne<\/a> in San Francisco; and the <span style=\"color: #990000;\"><a id=\"mtcq\" title=\"ACCU Oxford Conference\" href=\"https:\/\/accu.org\/index.php\/conferences\/accu_conference_2008\/accu2008_sessions\">ACCU Oxford Conference<\/a><\/span>; and the <a id=\"v.fu\" title=\"Erlang Exchange\" href=\"https:\/\/skillsmatter.com\/event-details\/erlang\/erlang-exchange-2008-ug-sessions\">Erlang Exchange<\/a>, <a id=\"ku4l\" title=\"CommunityOne\" href=\"https:\/\/www28.cplan.com\/cc197\/sessions_catalog.jsp?ilc=197-1&amp;ilg=english&amp;isort=&amp;isort_type=&amp;is=yes&amp;icriteria1=+&amp;icriteria7=+&amp;icriteria9=&amp;icriteria8=&amp;icriteria3=\">CommunityOne<\/a> In 2010, Peter took part in <strong>Martin Odersky<\/strong>&#8216;s Scala training course. A few years ago Peter wrote the regular <em>World View Series<\/em> for the ACCU Magazine, CVu UK. <br id=\"hr55\" \/><br id=\"lebd\" \/> Peter has worked extensively in financial services, investment banking IT in the City of London and Docklands.
