Me, Myself and I<\/h1>\n

I develop Java EE, JavaFX and Scala software, usually for financial services IT investment banks in the city of London, UK.<\/p>\n

I am the ninety first Java Champion and author of the JavaEE 7 Reference book to be publish by Packt Publishing June 2013.<\/p>\n

The Java Champions are an exclusive group of passionate Java technology and community leaders who are community-nominated and selected under a project sponsored by Oracle. Java Champions get the opportunity to provide feedback, ideas, and direction that will help Oracle grow the Java Platform. This interchange may be in the form of technical discussions and\/or community-building activities with Oracle’s Java Development and Developer Program teams.<\/p>\n

Biography<\/h1>\n

Peter Pilgrim<\/strong>‘s high-tech career began at the age of 12, where he learnt BASIC on a Research Machine 380Z school computer. He wrote games galore and taught himself how to program computers. Peter graduated from London South Bank University<\/a> then went into IT industry. He started in Germany, then returned to the UK, and eventually broke into Investment Banking IT. During this early, long and successful career path he achieved a background with C\/C++, Fortran 77 and Pascal programming languages.

Peter was the founder and organiser of the Java Web Users Group (JAVAWUG<\/span><\/strong>). In 2007, he was nominated by his fellow peers on the Sun\/Oracle Java Champions<\/a><\/em><\/strong> program. Peter is a Sun Certified Java Architect for the Java EE 5 platform. He has been writing Java programs since 1997. As well as core and enterprise Java, Peter gained valuable experience in alternative JVM languages such as JavaFX<\/strong>, Groovy <\/strong>and Scala<\/strong>. He delivered presentations on JavaFX and Scala JavaOne<\/a> in San Francisco; and the ACCU Oxford Conference<\/a><\/span>; and the Erlang Exchange<\/a>, CommunityOne<\/a> In 2010, Peter took part in Martin Odersky<\/strong>‘s Scala training course. A few years ago Peter wrote the regular World View Series<\/em> for the ACCU Magazine, CVu UK.

Peter has worked extensively in financial services, investment banking IT in the City of London and Docklands. He has been involved with Deutsche Bank<\/strong>, UBS<\/strong>, Lloyds Banking Group<\/strong>, and Credit Suisse<\/strong> to name but a few.<\/p>\n
